Unless I have missed the point the bone of contention is and has been the unequal treatment that conservative speakers get when speaking at various universities. The charge is that audiences are salted with rabble (some from off campus) to heckle the speakers.
Leaving out certain schools like Berkley, the student population is probably similar to the general population in spite of the best efforts of the profs. I was in school in the 60's and we had plenty of left leaning educators even then but they were not as vocal as they are now.
