The Soviet Union had vast quantities of natural resources. It looked at the world as a department store while it hoarded what it had.
Shouldn't some of these resources now be flowing to Europe and Asia where needed?
Also it shouldn’t be a matter of square miles. Where is California ranked today in terms of largest economic powers?
Granted we have little in way of barriers of trade within our country.
