From the L. A. Times:
...The secret report, which was provided to Congress on Jan. 8, says the Pentagon needs to be prepared to use nuclear weapons against China, Russia, Iraq, North Korea, Iran, Libya and Syria.
Big secret.
...A copy of the report was obtained by defense analyst and Times contributor William Arkin.
And how do you suppose he "obtained" it?
Be sure to also check out Arkin's column, in which he cheerfully spews the "still-classified" document all over the place.
Only an idiot would believe that documents such as this, outlining all possible contingencies for the use of nuclear weapons, haven't been in existence since the 1950s. That doesn't mean it should be public knowledge.
Obviously, for Arkin to have "obtained" this report, someone in Congress thought that it would be worth screwing up America's foreign relations for a chance to throw a political grenade into the White House and play the Goldwater Daisy card on those warmongering Republicans.
I can only imagine what the "fallout" is going to be from this. The press is still cocky at having destroyed the Pentagon propaganda program a couple of weeks ago.
Maybe this is why no one tells the goddam Congress anything...
