"Small unmarked" plane?

I'm not a conspiracy buff, even though I distrust government. However, in the matter of the 747 which went down near Long Island shortly after it happened I remember news reporting the New York Air National Guard was conducting exercises 5 to 8 miles away from that plane. Witnesses saw a "fireball" moving from that area toward the plane.

After a short while the news folk were interviewing friends of witnesses about what the witnesses said, as the friends said the FBI had forbidden the witnesses to speak directly about what they saw.

Then there was no more. There was talk about a missile from a ship, which was discounted.

And, I may have imagined it all, I suppose.

To be honest, I don't know how they could keep it secret if indeed it did happen. I don't think it could. Cognitive dissonance.

In the case of the 911 flight, I would imagine the government wouldn't want the civilian population to know that prior to September 11 the military was authorized to shoot down civilian airliners under certain circumstances.
