California, Politics, Society etc... (LONG)

Hi Lindy,

In CA you watch the crime rate soar, illegal immigration unchecked, property values and taxes escalate to a point where you feel your trash people should come inside and clean up your house too.

Then when you have the audacity to imply or suggest that illegal immigrants are killing local business, lowering incomes by providing countless folks who gladly work for peanuts, you are cast as a xenophobe or racist by a bunch of career politicians who see their constituency potentially rise by thousands daily.

In San Diego, thousands of Mexicans illegally come over the border to give birth to their children so that they can become US citizens. Many SD hospitals near the border shut their doors, as they could not make any money always just giving birth to non-paying border crossers. This immediately grants them a sort of immunity from deportation as they plead they need to take care of their US child. When their children are old enough to petition a citizenship request for members of their family, they do so.

Yearly, tens of thousands of voting "Democrats" are created in San Diego and CA this way.

I watched as San Diego, Orange County and California was literally overrun. Watching the QOL of a region you love deteriorate can be painful. Much like watching a beautiful painting be cruelly vandalized. Naturally, when this occurs one is bound to have a bit of bitterness towards democrats who espouse equality for all, compassion for illegal mexicans, etc - only because they stand to profit from it.

Naturally, democrat politicians LOVE IT. It ensures their days of smooth sailing on the backs of those that create the prosperity, jobs and quality of life which was previously maintained.

California was a conservative state - when it created the prosperity and humongous inventory of goods and services that helped progress the whole planet to new heights. It's population was socially more liberal - also a byproduct of intelligence. However this liberal social policy was manipulated and taken advantage of - and now the liberals of yesterday are the conservatives of today, resentful of their openness and lack of prejudice being exploited.

At its core, the society-builders are still conservative, however now they are drowning in illegal immigrants, unable to earn a decent living in their home country, due to low education levels and lack of skill, and a lack of birth control - and who are looking for a short cut and a free ride outside the legal channels.

The education quality here slips and soon you have a festering situation where all of the young are indoctrinated by socialist/liberal politics at the earliest ages.

It's very close to the days of ancient Rome - where the huns soon dictated what "culture" is, tearing down pillars and anything above their limited intellectual capacity to appreciate.

The corrupt Roman politicians and senators, reveling only in their own comfort and luxury, couldn't give a rat's rear about the situation and sell out their constituencies for a jug of wine, immunity from attack - and for today - a guaranteed voting bloc.

Sure you can say its xenophobic, sure you can try to compare illegals to the legal immigrants that made the country, and it is easy as heck to cast a racist profile on all those who DARE to speak out and point at the truth of the situation.

The bottom line is - a society in RETROGRESSION. Illegal immigrants start off as criminals, and their lasting contribution to society amounts to cheap physical labor. They degrade themselves, their native country and their humanity in the process.

Yes, the society builders keep coming up with new technologies, new industries - but the general underpinnings of society crumble and decay. Creating a technical wasteland. A complacent group who are not seeking to build the next great empire, elevate the mind to untold heights or free man of his mundane materialist nature.

The difference between ancient Greece and Rome is a prime example. In Athens, people were creating laws, discussing the human condition in street discussions and generally elevating themselves from the animal type of lifestyle of their immediate ancestors.

In Rome, the focus was on indulgence and the wine flowed freely. No discussions of mankind were to be found on the streetcorners, only a crass materialistic outlook which treasured pleasure and hedonism above all else.
Rome's only culture - was the remnants of the culture stolen from the Greeks they conquered.

I look around, and I see the Roman model of society being formed. Space exploration is a great example. Only a handful of the population hold these vast dreams - and I can assure you they do not hold them because of some desire to increase their luxury level - no, they want to expand, explore and live in a new manner, despite the risks and discomfort which it might involve.

Why so few? Our teachers (statistically) are clearly concerned only about teaching Johnny about Martin Luther King and the water shortage on a planet with 2/3rds of its surface covered with water. They could no more care about space exploration than they could fly to the moon. ;-)

So is it little wonder our kids are easy prey to the cheapening of sexuality and crass commercialism of boy bands ands Britney Spears? Is it any wonder they sit complacently in front of the television or the computer and dream only of material security and popularity?

It's not surprising at all.

Will and Ariel Durant's lessons of history summed it up succinctly - "Those who do not learn from history are bound to repeat it."

Yes, my philosophy is not popular and if this post were printed over the major newspapers of the world - the only thing I would be classified is as a discontent racist who is unable to accept "the new reality".

Much of it's inherent value would be lost - edited out by the intellectually corrupt.

No discussion or progress would ensue.

Only bitterness.

The reasons folks come here, unbeknownst to themselves, is that they crave intellectual discussion - are STARVED for it. HZ may make many forays into banality, but at it's core is a group of intellectually above average folks who are not challenged by TV or much of the internet. Folks who can freely exchange ideas and challenge themselves - much like the ancient Athenians did.

Outside these internet chambers, Rome is burning, but at HZ the intellectual conversing continues.

I am not lacking compassion. I was brought up by parents who almost regularly handed tens and twenties to homeless folks and derelicts - even when they could not really afford to.

I recall one incident outside an old Winchell's donut shop sometime (when they still had the crowned king on the sign), when I was sent out of the car to hand some money to some homeless man, huddled in the corner of the parking lot. I was no older than 5. The joy and surprise in his eyes, as well as a bit of self-deprecation, still can be seen as clearly in my mind's eye today.

Scenes like that have been repeated many times, over many years. Yet being compassionate and intelligent - one cannot support government subsidy of the poor or homeless - as one knows such a system steals pride and initiative, just as that look of self deprecation can't be erased from my memory - I know the true core of a human - despises a handout.

Just like welfare class, these folks soon become a growing self-perpetuating class, trained to abuse and manipulate a system of charity, they become resentful and at the same time truly loathe themselves.

No, the only way to lessen the always present homeless and poor is to educate intelligently, provide a very broad global capitalist infrastructure which keeps progress and people moving upwards.

Teach the dangers of drugs and alcoholism, smoking and speak out against the cheap forces who would turn our children into consumer-whores and gigolos, withn nary a thought in their heads except materialistic consumption and hero worship.

No, society has little future...the statistics weigh heavily in favor of the abysmally ignorant masses slowly suffocating the creative society builders.

Eventually this ignorance and destructive direction leads to plagues and mass cataclysms - and then when the planet has been pared down to a small number - the whole cycle starts again.

Best wishes,
