The author addresses a "left" that I can't identify with, as is the "left" I see described around here so often.

Believe me when I tell you than none of my buddies (mainly, but not exclusively, Democrats): oppose the war in Afganistan, were "slapped in the face" by evidence that quality of life improved in post-Taliban Afganistan, have too simplistic a world view to understand what the war is "really" about, attempt to exaggerate the loss of civilian life in Afganistan, give a shit about Marxism, failed "to register the horror of the attack or to acknowledge the human pain it caused" (!!!!!), refuse "to identify with their fellow citizens", "regard any hint of patriotic feeling as politically incorrect", had "difficulty responding emotionally to the attacks of September 11 ", believe that America is to blame for 9/11, etc...

Nor would we vote for anyone who was described in that indictment of the left.

If this is how you guys see us, then you need to pull your heads out of your rears.
