No one has put you into the category of "leftist" that you describe. At least I haven't. If I thought you were in that category, I wouldn't waste time arguing with you. It's not too surprising that the people you hang with wouldn't be in that category either.

But you also can't deny that many people in positions of influence--academics, authors, media people, movie stars--do fall firmly into that category. I've had a good time here pointing many of them out, with specific quotes showing their attitudes.

It's likely that more than a few politicians also fall into that category, but none of them are asinine enough to say so under the current public opinion climate. Like Brer Rabbit, they're layin' low.

I would venture to say that the author of the piece, Michael Walzer, a professor at the School of Social Science at Princeton, runs across a lot more hardcore leftists, anti-Americans, and proud Marxists than either you or I.
