Well, let's see...

The military officer Saddam Hussein is trained in the US, and then allowed by the CIA to over-throw the legitimate government of Iraq because they were doing things that the CIA didn't like, such as a)taking control of their oil supplies and b)preparing to attack Israel.

Saddam then attacks Iraq's neighbor Iran, which is all well and good because a)it keeps both Iraq and Iran from preparing to attack Israel, and b)both countries need to sell oil to finance their war, and c)coup leaders in Iran had recently taken US diplomats hostage, and d)the Iranian coup leaders presented a threat to the government of Saudi Arabia, a key US oil supplier.

Hundreds of thousands of Iranians and Iraqis die or have their lives ruined because of Saddam's lust for power.

In response to a grievance over oil drilling, Saddam then attacks Iraq's neighbor Kuwait. Saddam tries to divert attention from his attack on Kuwait with a weak attack on Israel.

Around a hundred thousand Iraqis die, along with hundreds in Kuwait and among the forces sent to oust him.

In his surrender, Saddam agrees to stop developing weapons of mass destruction, and to allow inspectors to verify this.

Saddam then continues to develop weapons of mass destruction, throws out the inspectors, and economic embargoes are set in place.

Another ten thousand or so Iraqis die in the economic collapse.

This man can not be allowed to have weapons of mass destruction, and if he can not assure the world that he does not have them, then he must be removed, either from from the presidency of Iraq, or from the face of the Earth.
