Isn't this the kind of politics that Trent Lott, of the great state of Mississippi, said was politics of the worst kind? Narrow, selfish, below the dignity of the politicians? (Saw him on Fox doing that.)
Lott retaliates for Pickering loss
Isn't this the sort of thing that Republicans did in the Clinton administration, the Democrats did in the Bush and Reagan administrations, etc.?
Doesn't this sort of thing seem to be the duty of the Senate - keeping people who let their personal beliefs override law? Keeping judges sort of toward the middle.
Ashcroft is one thing - that guy will be gone eventually, even though he attempts to cram his religious beliefs down the throats of voters. Federal judges are another.
After talking about how unfair, not to say unkind, it is to practice politics in this manner, it must hurt Lott horribly to be doing, and have been doing, the same thing.
I feel his pain!! And I feel pretty good - must not be bothering him much.
