VP Cheney is Getting Rebuffed

Saudi Arabia - March 16

Does Cheney Look Real Happy Here?

Our VP is doing an all-out PR schmooze campaign with the middle-east, but they are so fearful of their own ignorant populations - that they are unknowingly cutting their own throats.

We have been hoping Saudi Arabia would act as sort of a civilized hub to the Arab and Muslim region, yet the government's fear of uprisings ( as seen in Pakistan) which may get out of hand by these ignorant as sand fundamentalists - which comprise most of their populace - keep them from doing what is really in their best interests.

When you live so luxuriously and many of your people live like desert rats - you have to have some power over them. The Pope can live like a King in his own city because he is the voice of God. In Saudi Arabia the royal family is also blessed by Allah and so by letting the US wage war against Iraq, their hyper-religious people will feel they have betrayed Allah.

It is almost so pathetically laughable - it makes one want to cry. The Saudis fear education though - because educated, less religious people generally don't like Kings and royals - a concept borne of "divine right". Yet, western education would serve their cause and continue their reign much longer than allowing the fundamentalists to dominate their educational system.

So Cheney uses sugar now, and is getting rebuffed. This then puts us in the distasteful vinegar position - a position which lets us whisper about an Israel-centric middle east on one side and an Indian-Hindu framed region on the other all while leaking info of orders and shipments of new fighters, bombs and missiles for our somewhat fanatical Israeli allies as well as opening new diplomatic channels with India. Look for this subtle undercurrent between the news media headlines next.

The bottom line is we will NOT allow Saddam to possess nuclear capability - and if we have to take him out alone - we will.

We have to maintain our friendliness with Pakistan while we are dealing with Afghanistan - but their porous borders and fundamentalist symapthies have been a major source of frustration.

Once the Afghan operation is concluded we will be setting up a whole new set of alliances and Saudi Arabia will find the US is much better to have as a friend than an enemy.

On an aside note - is it just me or do the royal family need to tone down the black moustache beard dye a notch or three?

All that money and not a decent hair dye specialist in the kingdom ;-)
