If she were found innocent by reason of insanity, confined to a mental institution and given meds, when should she be declared sane and released and who should decide?
I understand that she will be transferred to a prison for the criminally insane and she will receive treatment. The main difference is that no witch doctor or committee of witch doctors will have the power to return her to society. I assume you understand that under innocent by reason of insanity means they could release her in 30 days if they chose to do so.
There are times when a persons deeds, sane or insane, are so horrendous they forfiet their right to live among us.
As a DP opponent, I am offended by all courts that sanction murder by state but this is no time to pick on Texas. Some States have the option of guilty but insane but the outcome is the same, confinement for life. There is probably not a State in the Union that would have turned her over to the whims of psychiatrists.
