PS The stimulus package didn't pass. I'm putting that down below the main message because it would be sort of embarassing to someone with the capacity to be embarassed. Sensitive guy, me, even though I doubt that little "faux pas" will bother you.

PPS It does turn the conservative philosophy on it's head. I thought they believed less spending, no matter by Ds or Rs, was supposed to be good for the economy.

If the Rs believe that increased government spending is good during a recession, then "bigger" government can't be all bad, can it?

Now, if the Rs want to cut taxes, and think that increased spending is the answer to a recession, then, guess what? Deficit spending, maybe? Fiscal irresponsibility, maybe? It does boggle the mind.
