Pakistani authorities have nabbed one of Osama bin Laden's key henchmen.

Saudi-born Palestinian Abu Zubaydah, 31, operational commander of the al-Qaeda terror network, will be handed over to the US.

He is the highest ranking al-Qaeda leader to be captured since September 11.

Security services believe he was regrouping terrorists for a fresh wave of attacks.

Zubaydah was among 60 militants arrested in raids in the Pakistani cities of Faisalabad and Lahore last week.

He was shot in the stomach, legs and groin while trying to escape but survived after medical treatment. His men had slipped away from Afghanistan's Tora Bora cave complex in December, despite heavy US raids.
