Geographically, the Argentinians have a pretty good claim. And at one time they had a great political claim. There's still a thread of legitimacy to it.

However, the British occupation of the Falklands has been continuous since 1833, and seems pretty solid. Right now there are 2100 folks living there that want to stay British. 2100 may not seem like a lot, but it's all of the people living there.

And, the British occupation is something the Argentines have never really conceded, and is a real irritant to them, especially their military.

Must be something to keep their minds off their economic troubles.
