Shortly after that unpleasantness, I spoke with a prof at university who'd done a stint in the British navy.
He claimed that considering the percentage of the total fleet taking part in that war, they undoubtedly had nuclear weapons in theater; and further that if the shit-o-meter had ever threatened to go off-scale they'd have used the nukes in an eyeblink.
Can't make any claims about the value of his insights, but I did find it interesting.
