Read the article again. These people are accused of passing messages from a terrorist leader--one convicted of trying to destroy the WTC--to terrorists around the world. Even before Sept. 11, this would not have been on the normal job description of a defense attorney. It certainly doesn't say much for the attitude of said attorney toward her country and her own people.

There's a big difference between defending a criminal and his politics, and smuggling a gun into his prison cell so he can off a couple of guards and escape.

I hope to God you're not defending these people just because you don't like Ashcroft. That wouldn't be very sensible. I hope he continues to "oppress" criminals.
