The idea is to enforce the Camp David Accords

which the US guaranteed.

Yes, one of the things a UN deployment would do is stop new Israelis settlements in the West Bank and Gaza. The original settlements, which were built during the Reagan Administration, are in direct violation of that accord.
One of the reasons we have this mess going on today is that Reagan refused to bring sufficient pressure on Israel to prevent the construction of these settlements. The Sharon government undoubtedly expected and expects the same kind of tolerance under Bush Jr.
They have ratchited up the pressure on Bush Jr. as best they can, but this is not gonna happen...

The other idea is to stop the terrorist attacks. With enforcement of the Camp David accords one can reasonably expect enough co-operation from the Palestinian civilian population for this to be done.

Otherwise, what Israel is going to face is continued attacks, and these with the full and open support of many governments, and not just Moslem governments.

The US now has a population somwhere over 280,000,000. About half of us are really fed up with this recent Zionist expansion into the West Bank and Gaza. Within Israel, about half of its 7,000,000 population are really fed up with it as well.

What this means is that only 143,500,000 of the 6,000,000,000 people living on this planet are in favor of this new Israeli expansion, and the other 5,856,500 are really, really fed up with it.
