Definitions, God and Man...

Hi Steve,

Jenin (also Janin) like most cities in the region with the prefix "J" sound, refer in some way to god or Jehovah.

God's chosen
Looked on by God
Whom Jehovah answers

I can't find an exact definition but "One whom God Blows up" might be applicable.

One has to remember that the term "Palestina" referred to a "land of strangers" and that the Palestinians are the unwanted people going way back to Exodus.

Everything down there is religious or relates to "god" in some form or another.

Sometimes I feel like a vistor from another world and I am watching the natives burn incense and sacrifice animals to the perceived deities who rule their lives and whom, in their limited capacity to understand, they feel they must favor by sacrifices or offerings.

Religious zealotry in all forms - just strengthens the distortions of the given religion. And since all religions all share a fundamental theme "If you believe this one, the real true religion, you are the good guy and all others are evil" - naturally, all the religious zealots of any denomination or faith can justify destroying the non-believers and have their gods blessing.

Religion was a convenient way to "sanctify" wars and killing. If a man's conscience told him it was wrong...a religion could twist his inner knowing and justify it in the name of some God's "desire" or that killing so-n-so would be rewarded by god because so-n-so was evil. God needed him to kill so-n-so to further his plan.

None of history's ignoramuses ever figured out that god needs no proxy-murderers if he is indeed a god, and if he does...he is not a god at all!

Logic and reason seem illogical and unreasonable when religion's corrupting influence is at work.

God's "creation" - man - is so inferior, frail, sheepish, violent, ignorant and generally pathetic as to make any sane man wonder what sort of god would produce such inferior merchandise or "creations".

Clearly yucky evolution, and a lot of leftover monkey brains, is the only explanation for such a quantity of shortcomings and flaws.

"Human nature" itself has become a descriptive term for shortcomings.

And if we are molded in god's image - what does that say of this god?

He is an ignorant dolt...

...or perhaps an Orangutan?

;-)
