Perhaps one of the problems is the control of agendas
We allowed Arafat, apparently, to give direct orders to the killers of American diplomats in the early 1970's and we allowed him to not be held accountable for this.
We have allowed him the access to respectability while at the same time he never, accoridng to the latest news, actually give up his fascist and terorristic ways.
Even today I aeard him setting the agenda for the Israeli response of late.
He who controls the agenda can easily control the game.
