Yes, I did read it. But if he truly is an anti-semite and a racist...does this mean the immigration problem has gotten so bad that over 17% of French voters are now racists, or willing to become racists, too?

If that's true - then it really is a sad day.

After having dug a little into Le Pen's past - I now hope for a Chirac victory with lots of conservatives running high forcing him to preside more to the right.

If the status quo is maintained, judging by the progressive gains National Front has been making - eventually someone else will come along and snatch the presidency. Possibly someone who makes Le Pen look like he's moderate.

Like all things - this contest will have good/bad sides. It might motivate the other parties to support more controls on immigration.

I would LOVE to see a translated debate
between Chirac and Le Pen. That would be highly informative.
