Too many extremists, principally on the Palestinian side in my opinion, simply don't want peace. Hopefully some day more reasonable and moderate leaders on both sides will show creativity and flexibility, and a genuine willingness to seek peace and not the destruction of the other.
Israel should give up most of the settlements. The PA should crack down more seriously on terrorists and rejuvenate itself with younger, cleaner leadership committed to reform. There is or could be an opportunity for new ideas, such as letting a certain number of settlers remain on the West Bank, as long as the percentage of the West Bank population that are Jewish settlers remains no higher than say the percentage of Israeli's population that is Arab. Plus certain groups could be granted dual citizenship in both Israel and a Palestinian state.
