Got any idea what "stuff" they could plant in the water supply? Assuming someone could get to the intake, what would they put in there?
It seems to me that wherever I turn they're talking about covering the reservoirs, digging them undergound, etc., at enormous expense. And that sounds good, I guess, the water has to be safe.
And then you get to wondering what it is that someone could contanimate it with. It already has dead fish, logs, a deer or two, bear poop.
And is there any man-made contanimant which could be produced, transported and introduced which would remain effective.
I assumed there was something obvious I'd overlooked.
Panning for gold looks to me like fishing. It requires endless patience and work to find a big one, but you find them both in nice places.
Had a teacher who made it through college panning for gold. Worked with another guy who built a 3 inch dredge. He and his buddy would trade off weighting themselves down, breathing through a modified snorkel, and dredge their hearts out. The partnership dissolved when his buddy poured a beer down the snorkel, my friend had already had a few, and he had a bit of trouble getting out of the weights, back to the surface. Darwin at work.
Good luck with it.

What "stuff", though?
