<Mexicans could build in the Arizona desert and defend those villages with tanks, troops and artillery. Would that be "construction of a building where no one wants one"?
Yeah, like they have to build in the desert. The illegals just come across the border pretty much whenever they like and move into houses in the cities. But that's another story...
And "deliberately sneaking into a building full of kids and detonating a high explosive" might be a lesser equivalent of "standoff helicopter rocket attacks on civilian housing".
At least this is an attempt at a more reasonable equivalent. Laying bricks and detonating bombs in known civilian areas is not.
Realistically, how do you expect the Palestinians to stop violence before the Israelis stop building settlements? Geez, the Israelis were building settlements long, long before the Palestinians resorted to suicide bombings. Doesn't seem to be a "response".
The Israelis started building settlements in the West Bank after they took the land after an attempted Arab war of Jewish extermination. The second of three. Not suicide bombing, but full-blown military invasions by Arab armies. These little military dustups seem to be somehow missed in any discussion here of the situation in the present-day Middle East.
Whether or not you agree with their right to build in the conquered territories, it's less than useful to pretend that the Palestinians were just sitting there in their little nation minding their own business in 1967 when the Israelis suddenly moved into their territory in the middle of the night without warning and started aggressively building houses.
