Al Queda is an opportunist. They want war. Any war will do. They believe that if there is war between Muslims and non-Muslims, then eventually it will lead to all-out-war between East and West. Muslim and Non-Muslim. In the end, the Nazi's (opps, I mean Al Queda) believe that they will be the last standing competitor in this all-out brawl...They are the only side with the resolve to see it thru to its ultimate completion... Thus they will be left to rule the world according to their vision.

Unfortunatly, many in the Middle East subscribe to this nonsensical view; therefore, never ending warfare is enevitable in the Middle East. Even if it Isreal disappeared tommorrow, the warfare would continue. It would just move to Turkey, Russia, or as you have pointed out: Kashmir. Sooner or later this will get millions of Muslims and Non-Muslims killed in a nuclear exchange. The saddest part is that its almost to the West's benefit if this occurs sooner rather than later. The extreemism doesn't appear to be going away and that makes a nuclear war more and more likely as more "renegades" in the Middle East aquire such weapons of mass destruction.
