Doesn't seem to "fly".

If you investigate the time period of the gassing of the Kurds, Iraq was receiving American support before, during, and after that happened. The US did not take offense, did continue support.

Why didn't we take offence at the time if we thought that was such a heinous crime? Why now and not then? How far back to we go to try to right wrongs?

If there were a propaganda effort to mobilize American public opinion against Iraq for some reason, what would it sound like? Why would the US start demonizing Iraq?

There are those who regard the US use of Agent Orange as employing a chemical weapon. It is dangerous to people as well as plants, is causing all kinds of problems. When it was applied it was known to be harmful to the people on whom it was falling. No one cared. Is that different because it was an ostensible herbicide which also screwed over people?

Look at the characteristics of Iran and Iraq -

Iran

is more disposed to support and export terrorism than Iraq.

is far more likely to have nukes than Iraq.

does have medium quality, medium range missiles which Iraq doesn't.

Iraq has Saddam, who GHWB left in power, and

Iraq has oil.

Seems like a slam dunk if one is truly after terrorism. It seems irresponsible to go after the lesser threat, the threat without nukes, missiles.
