Bush and Mineta continue the same old song. Everyone knew the "deadline" for Amtrak self-support was a joke. A government rathole is immortal by nature. Under our current system of "vote yourself some bucks from the Treasury," it may be impossible to actually eliminate a program. Reagan couldn't do it. Bush can't do it, and I don't think Bush is even trying very hard.

So, even more explosive financial diarrhea from the halls of Washington.

And the Democrats are still screaming about our $600 tax rebates crushing the budget.
