Amtrak needs to be taken over by a private concern who can turn it into a competitive transportion alternative to the Greyhound Bus.

Shutting down unprofitable routes and opening up new ones which are profitable is the recipe for success. I know a lot of people who are ticked that Amtrak serves the smaller Tucson but not Phoenix. It is absurd management decisions like this which are putting it in the red.

The golden age of rail travel...need not be behind us. Railroads showed their worth in WWII and on the week of 9/12.

It is the bumbling bureaucrats feeding on taxpayer dollars who don't run things profitably or pay attention to consumer needs.
