>>>The purchase of the long term contracts at ridiculous prices is just part of the problem.
The prices were bargains, at the time. They were the best prices he could get, at the time. Some rightists were touting long-range contracts as a possible solution. As soon as Davis entered the contracts they hastily stepped back and went back to pointing fingers at the governor. Now the the prices have gone down, and they are in right-wing heaven.
>>>Contradictory messages to power producers about when to produce or not is another.
I'm not familiar with this one, sorry I can't comment without a bit more info.
>>>They interjected themselves in a game they had no idea how to play and got burned, wasting huge amounts of taxpayer resources,
This is nuts. The shit hit the fan because of things put in place under Pete Wilson's tenure. "They" happened to be in charge when the shit hit the fan. It was *their job* to keep the lights on. They did not "interject" themselves into anything. It's possible someone else might have done better or worse, we'll never know.
>>>and doing little to help the flow of electricity.
More nuts. The emergency could have been much worse than it was. California has built a lot of plants (at Davis' encouragement and insistance) and we are in a much better place than we were then.
If you promise not to say silly things about California politics, I promise to stay away from Texas. Deal?
