Re: If only......

When I hear there are so many different points of views within the Islam world.
Saudi Arabia and Egypt have pro western leaders but an increasing islamic extremist population.
Because they aren't democracies, at one point, there might be a serious problem.
Iraq has a population completely crushed by its leader and by our embargo.
Iran knows a completely different situation: a very hostile leadership but a population striving for western values, crushed by its government and by the US president's speech.
If only the US could USE those different approaches to its advantage?
It looks like the US would rather alienate itself the entire muslim world than use their hostility towards each other. Alliances forming among former enemies, but growing into a religious issue?
What might be salutary, though, is the understanding that invading a country has not solved the problem as the real enemy is a network of people living hidden in many countries, even ours. A network capable of hiding itself, and act in total surprise, using minimal technology.
