..so you can boo the great big evil US government, drafting innocents to kill innocents...and get up on th soapbox and denounce everything that's going on....

But it's not Vietnam. The US, if it wanted to - has the moral right and capability to take over the world and reshape it intelligently - but it does not.

We are the most powerful nation on the planet - and that invokes jealousy. Especially from leftist, inbred Brits who hate seeing Blair appear to kiss GWB's behind - even though Britain, France and the rest of Europe would be parts of a German Empire right now if it weren't for the US and our soldiers, planes and guns.

Everyone gets what they deserve. No one escapes the law of action/reaction. The US may have attracted the WTC after our folly in Yugoslavia. We now know that yes, the Muslims in Yugoslavia indeed had terrorists among them.

Without sufficient intelligence, the Clinton administration came down hard on Milosevic and the "fascist" dictatorship he held. Clinton even authorized the initial use of a "tactical" weapon so as to disrupt all electrical equipment for fear of higher losses of planes and men. They still got one of our stealth fighters because of poor logistics and implementation.

Surprise - the same Muslims we helped - turn around and blow up our WTC. The US blew it, went off half-cocked - and we have paid the price.

However, now these other regions are paying a price for their ignorance, and like children playing with guns, knives and killing their neghbors - these kids are now being restrained and hunted down.

You don't have to like it...you can whine about it all you want - and you do - this is one of the few nations on earth where you can rant and have such ranting protected by law.

No one wants to kill unnecessarily - no one wants to terrorize the ignorant populations which comprise the majority of the earth. However, GWB is charged with protecting the USA and our interests both at home and abroad - and he is doing just that.

The kid-gloves are off. We lived in an illusion as "untouchables" for a long time. We were during WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf War. It's easy to be a peacenik when your home is untouchable.

Now we see that in this modern age our interests and mainland are vulnerable - the initial patriotic fervor mimics post Pearl Harbor almost to a tee.

The discrimination against Japanese is mimicked by the prejudice now held against Muslims. Nothing new is happening. If anything - the US is much more civilized than ever in the face of such an attack. Muslims are not being rounded up and put in camps. I haven't yet heard a new slur like Jap or Kraut developed to describe Muslims. Yes, the US has grown since the Democratic administration and policies of Roosevelt.

There were peace-niks in 1941 and early 1942 as well. I have all the periodicals to prove it. Many did not want WWI to repeat itself. Yet they were outnumbered by enough folks who did want to go to war - especially after Pearl Harbor. Many say Roosevelt let Pearl Harbor be attacked - just as today the conspiracist say GWB let the WTC be destroyed.

History repeats itself.

In this instance, we will again remove dictators and terrorists from the geopolitical arena. Nothing new here either.

Our failure in Vietnam was due to two more Democrats afraid of waging a real war. Nixon inherited the seven year old "conflict" and it took another five to disengage "with honor" - and "honor" means now much of California is home to the lucky former South Vietnamese and their descendants.

This is not Vietnam. We are casualty-phobic now - due to Vietnam. So we go in guns blazing if we feel there is a threat. You would be complaining as loudly, perhaps louder, if we lost 100 men here another 25 there and yet another 53 during this search.

The Brits have experience - yes in losing wars, territories and lowering the British flag and rolling it up. We licked them 200 years ago - and the wounds still smart.

We did that once - in Vietnam. No more.

Under this administration - we are just going to hoist up the Union jack, preserve liberty and protect our nation from the religious fanatics which seek our destruction. Fanatics which are more dangerous than the most ideologue communist.
