That is not a mainstream perspective at all. The democratic effort to create a European state is nothing at all like the Roman Empire. It is not like it politically, culturally or militarily.
The rights of citizens are far greater, slavery is non-existant, and it is a secular state, not a theocratic tyranny, with its leader held as a god.
The member states of the Euro-Union of today have a rough similarity to portions of the Roman Empire, but they merely overlap.
Additionally, few Chrisitans today believe that the chialist theologies have much connection to truth.
