Re: Sequoia National Park

Hi Raoul,

This mornings report was the wind has all but stopped and the fire was 2 miles from the famous trail of the giants. No rain for the last 3 months and over 100 degree temperatures are the big problem with the under brush igniting very easily.

I was there last in 98, it's my favorite place to camp and explore. Too bad the loggers cut so many of the huge trees down only to realize the wood was only good to make pencils. Some where over 100 feet in circumference.
Besides the beautiful Sequoia trees there's Moro Rock, an easy 1/4 mile high climb with a view of the valley and the highest peak in the continental US, marble caves (now there's a hike), pretty valleys and streams. Right next to Sequoia is Kings Canyon which is twice the depth of the Grand Canyon and is a long drive to the bottom but the scenery is worth it. Kings Canyon has a few features like Yosemite but less than 1/4 the people visiting.

Regards,
SteveS
