They are living things Lee. One of the oldest living things on Earth and only found in California.
My reference to being innocent was because there wood has no use for man yet the loggers cut many of the giants down before they realized the wood had no value.
Don't get me wrong, I think cutting the forest is necessary and thinning should be performed on a regular basis. We plant plenty of trees to make up for the losses.
