Being in the high-rise construction
industry gives me technical insight into those formal proposals made to rebuild on the WTC site.
I understand the coy attitude the engineers and architects have when it comes to rebuilding there. You don't want to rebuild a pair of 110 story "death-traps".
But the 'twin-towers' built in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia may hold part of the key to building something impressive with safety in mind....Build twin-towers, or multiple towers, with interconnecting
walkways between the towers. Stack the walkways at intervals of 20 stories
up. To keep structural stresses to a minimum on the walkways, build the walkways with slip-plates for the decking. The 'stacked' walkways, located
20 stories apart, will serve as excellent emergency-evacuation conduits.
Actually, an 'amateur' proposal, that was not part of the official SIX building proposals for the WTC site, caught my eye: It was to have a super 'Eiffel Tower' type structure, over 2000 feet high, built on the site.
WTC replacements.
