I heard something similar on NPR on the way to work yesterday

I was only listening sporadically but as I recall they had a politician from each party as call-in guests. The interviewer was asking about perscription legislation. The Republican was far more partisan than the Democrat and made his case largely without contention by either the reporter or the Democrat. His contention was that the Republican House was serious about reform in this area, as evidenced by the fact that the House passed their bill. The Democratic Senate, he contended, was not serious about this legislation, or they would have passed their version of the bill.

This is obviously a misrepresentation of how the respective parties feel about reform in this area, but no one corrected him. Further, hearing it, I was not moved to start a web-board rant about the evil Republicans and their stupid media toadies. My take on it was: this is stupid partisan politics with an election on the way -- listener beware. In other words, you have to use your head when you listen to these guys. The media is not going to correct everything they say, and they should not. The news is what these loveable morons (the pols) say.
