It is impossible to secure our shores and keep materials from being stolen. We still have folks on the payroll who are corrupt, asleep on the switch, clueless, incompetent and lazy. This will not change in any short period of time and will never fully go away.
Israel serves as a good example of how increased diligence and competence in many areas still cannot insure 100 percent coverage.
We now have teams all over the US and in airports looking for radioactive substances and particularly the high level radiation which accompanies a nuclear device.
It's a start. I agree more must be done to screen and improve the quality of the personnel in many areas.
Too much is at stake.
