">We still have folks on the payroll who are corrupt, asleep on the switch, clueless, incompetent and lazy. "
Where nuclear materials are sent, this excuse is unacceptable!
I can think of thousands of examples where people are held accountable for everyday transactions. You check into a hotel, they get your name, address, phone number, license plate and credit card BEFORE you go to your room. Simple.
Banks, stores, restaurants all make their employees sign for their cash drawers and receipts.
Hospitals have departments where live organs are being transported......they get signed for and taken care of immediately.
Adoption agencies have people and papers accompanying the adoptive child and it's parents, etc...........ad nauseum.
If middle class America can do it, the Army, DOD, etc. should be able to do it too.
Your line doesn't cut it.
The people in charge need to be fired (and their superiors), if non-accountability is found.
The fact that no-one is in charge at the SOURCE of the problem, makes it a thousand or a hundred thousand times more costly to find the horses once the barn door is left opened.
Then, we have administration members who claim we need to hunt and burn the terrorists, while they've looked the other way at the source of the problem.
I say the policies need to be changed and heads should roll.
The deadly anthrax that was sent out, is just another example of poor administration where our most dangerous materials are kept.
They didn't even check these people's resumes`!
Awk.
