Who's army was reduced to hardly anything?
Who was occupied by the allied forces until 1989?

Besides, Germany has lots of beautiful forests and it's very easy to see the damages caused by the former Eastern block industrial releases (that didn't give a damn about pollution).
After the reunification, the West Germans are making huge efforts to bring the East-Germans back to their living standards.
I find this far more constructive than starting a war.
