Simon is dumb, greedy, and crooked. A natural! No reason to not vote for him if you're conservative. Even Traficant and Jesse Jackson and Clinton are at least smart.

And, he claims to not know what's going on. What's to not like if you're a conservative?

As far as voting for GWB, there are two problems. First, and least, is my visceral reaction to dumb people in positions of authority. It is a character defect, almost congenital. I like authority to be able to see several sides of life. Sometimes you act very, very strongly on just one, but still know the others. Dumb people don't do that, and for Conservatives acknowledging a real world is heresy. Maybe that's why Conservatives seem to like dumb candidates.

Second, he'd have to convince me he was more interested in people than profits, that he understood the US was more than mansions. For a guy who has been nothing but an influence peddler all his life, that would be hard.
