My opinion expressed here is just that, an
opinion. It should be taken as mine, and
not that of the United States Army.
Likewise what is said here is pure
speculation and should not be construed
as inside information (for crying out loud I
am still in 'job' training).

Wouldn't it seem odd that in the middle of fighting a war on terror, we would take a detour on some dictator that has nothing to do with the threat posed by international terrorism? An adversary that is sponsored quietly by many countries in the middle east such as Sudan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen etc. . .
Fortunately this region is unstable politically. Iran is facing internal preasure for reform, and the Monarchies in the region are corrupt and unpopular.
Installing a new democratic government in Iraq is just what is needed to, not "topple overnight", but slowly degrade the despotic regimes in the surrounding countries and bring about democratic reform in them. The more democray in the region, the harder it is for terror to find refuge and support there. . . .
perhaps. . . .
I am not tied to this theory, and would enjoy anyone attacking it or picking it apart.
