Bowser is right about one thing: the transition of rule in South Africa was far more civilized and less violent than any reasonable person would have expected, and many people--black and white--deserve credit for this. And yes, including Nelson Mandela.
That being said, judging by his speech, Mandela is still an anti-Western socialist by nature, and unless he gets past the pigheaded stereotypes about capitalism, American imperialism, and the kind of thinking that is even now destroying Zimbabwe, South Africa is going down the tubes.
