Whole Florida bit a joke? Running a toll booth. Clamming up with the cops. A real laugh riot.

I personally think these guys should get at least as much legal heat as someone carrying a fake bomb onto an airplane for a gag.

Assuming it turns out to be as harmless as it looks, the cops of course will get endless grief for this, as well as the woman who reported it in the first place. Had it turned out differently, and the woman had been ignored by the police, and the cars had had trunks full of anthrax, we would have had yet another in the endless tirades about how the authorities had missed connecting the "obvious" dots. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Still remember the college down the road from me which was saved from a Columbine-style massacre when some photo shop girl happened to notice some pictures coming out of the machine showing the suspect holding guns and bombs. Who knows? Where is the line between paranoid and careful?
