The US lost it's leadership position on Human Rights during the Bush Administration. The US tortured routinely and just as routinely lied about it. The US not only tortured itself, but transferred people to other for torture. And lied about it. From the President on down.
As a result the US can no longer point it's fingers at others and act superior.
It's time to accept that. As in the case of most torturers, they lose more than the tortured. The US is just another Eastern European country when it comes to that.
