71. And I read the local newspapers from cover to cover from the time I was 9. At 11 I listened to the entire Republican and Democratic political conventions on the radio. At 12 I named all of Eisenhower's cabinet on a challenge from a teacher.
I listened to McCarthy occasionally. I was young enough to sympathize with his cause, could not understand why he had to behave the way he did.
I've since grown up.
