Thank you, Jefferson Davis

The subtext of your statement is, "So why don't we just do it ourselves instead of waiting for it to happen?"

What do you suggest? Mass exile? Political dismemberment (aka secession)? Internment camps? Firing squads?

There's another path.

The United States is a dynamic and innovative nation because it has risen to the challenge of absorbing influences from all over the world. The New Internationalism has been practiced here for 200 years. We have had to face racism and ethnic bigotry in a lab environment that has forced the world to rethink these ideas. We have had to adjust and re-examine who we are with each new wave of change, without losing the essence of what makes us cohesive. This is called "growth".

We have become a nation of laws which someone may join consciously, and not need to be born into like some stratified class in an ancient empire. This is why people come here: to belong to something, to become the people they want to be. Before there was America, leaving the land of your birth made you an exile. Here, you can be a citizen in a new home.

If that makes you uncomfortable, good. Dress that sorry hateful fearful wound before you lose a limb.

Regards--
Mary Anne
