Oh, that's funny Dan.
But we'd need one for each and every terrorist that's crawling the face of the earth these days, able to contact and deal with greedy, unscrupulous intelligence and military agents worldwide who are looking to make a buck.
You said >"Not many seem to realize what the price for peace really is. It’s not turning away and hoping the bad guys leave you alone, or, better, just go away. Because the discord is caused by humans, peace can therefore only be achieved through a violent change in those same humans. "
I realize this, and sometimes actually BELIEVE this IS the answer.
SOMETIMES.
But if the MIDDLE EAST is a problem, we should wait for THEM to ask for our help.
Not just go clambering in.
How does Sharon feel about us invading Iraq? Secretly he must be for it?
Actually, he has MUCH to do about securing peace in the region, so why doesn't he start first?
No, he choses to stir the pot.
Didn't he just admit he couldn't win against terrorism by waging war?
We're not even sure where the terrorists ARE, let alone WHO they are or WHERE they are.
More radical Muslims are born everyday.....for us and for Israel.
The more we kill indiscriminately, so will they.
>"Whether that change is sudden, or is a long, drawn-out, bloody battle to the death is irrelevant. It will remain violent -- and that is what the Middle East requires."
Violent with OUR money, OUR soldiers.
Forever war.
Not very many people here in the fat, lazy ole US want to see us at "war" for the rest of their peaceful lives.
CNN is actively making us edgy by keeping us honed with the war rhetoric. I'm getting sick of it.
Whether our military destroys the best Iraq has to offer, they have no guarantee they'll get Hussein ("Come out with your hands up"). His weapons could be stored in bunkers safely underground, and when he crawls out of the rubble, he'll just give them to someone else.
By then, he'll be even more pissed, and will use them against us for sure.
>"We can clean it up now, or just let it fester and quietly listen to the daily reports for the region."
That's what we should be doing, and building a coalition.
And stop using the word WAR.
Precision strikes would be better.
Containing Saddam (like a grounded misbehaving teenager) would be the better object.
Containing him.
Protecting ourselves by protecting our borders and infrastructure.
Spend money and energy here at home to watch and listen.
No, you can't get rid of an aggressive species that breeds everywhere.
Look at the sharks, snakes and crocodiles........let alone the cockroaches.
You can't really blast away at them.....just set traps, boundaries for poaching and "selective pesticides".
