Democracy? - GWB was trying to install a military dictatorship in Venezuela, replacing a democracy.
GWB promised to install a democracy in Afghanistan. Lotsa speeches on that. But I don't see it.
Don't you think he ought to learn how to build a nation before he moves on?
Is it because Saddam is immoral. The US, Reagan and GWB's father helped Saddam with his biochemical weapons programs, including the use of gas. If Saddam is immoral, so are Reagan, GHWB and the US. So much for that argument.
Is it because Saddam will give WMD to terrorists? Haven't seen that, have we? He MIGHT. Well, so might North Korea, Iran, Syria, Libya, Israel, if they thought it would do them some good, all kinds of people.
In fact, an unprovoked invasion of Iraq would seem to guarantee terrorists would get whatever he had - low level radioactive materials, whatever to cause the West some problems. Not invading him would seem to prevent that, the way it has with everyone else.
So, if the US is as immoral as any accomplice or supplier can be (why give a guy anthrax?), if it's not democracy, and since there's no tie to Saddam to terrorist activity against the US, what makes sense?
Oil, and Daddy Bush's hate. There's nothing left that a reasoning person can believe.
There's a lot left for the freshman football locker room to believe. High school freshmen. The sophomores would be wising up.
Arf (it's too easy if you think about it)
