. . . such as . . .
I know, Raoul.
I've been there. I once counted the bullet holes at the base of the Tower of Pisa.
At the moment, Hussein is contained, and this is a good thing. He is not, however, being contained by the United Nations. He is being contained by the United States of America, and Great Britain. This is a burden. We're asking others to share this burden.
Right now, we have the beast fairly well contained, and many say this is all that is required. Just contain him -- as well as the population of Iraq. Eventually, the beast will die and the world can get back to business as usual. Hussein, however, is grooming a dynasty. His totalitarian regime will not end with his death. He is building a mini-USSR, and he simply must be stopped.
Let’s take a short trip across dimensions for a moment (but not to Bowser’s play-world).
I can equate this to the Wars, but only if we let Hussein go for a couple (that's about 2) years. Given this opportunity, he would likely not attack Europe, but would certainly assist others in attacking the U.S. and G.B., simply out of hatred. Europeans may consider this justifiable -- you know, like so many did about Sept. 11, and equating it to Israel and Palestine? This leaves the beast ignored, though. After two years of freedom, Hussein would have grown in stature and power -- to where he could then simply take Europe.
I don't know how else to put any of this. He, and his family, are known and proven threats to global peace. They are aggressive to the point of genocide. I, personally, do not wish the man on my planet, and would gladly put him in my sight.
This is a form of prejudice, and I can recognize it as such, but it is a learned prejudice, Raoul, one which quickly boils down to him, or this Big Blue Marble. We can take him now much easier than later -- when it just might be too late.
