Reading your post, it just occurred to me: The Democratic Party would just LOVE to see Bush come barrelling in and forcing the union back to work. In an era where unions are becoming more irrelevant, and union members more conservative, this example of "the anti-labor Republican" would be just the thing to light a fire under the Democratic base.
