A worthy effort but...

<How those who have never been anywhere or done anything with their lives seem to know so much more than those who have? And are so SURE about it?

C'mon Bowser...

That was a classic ad hominem attack - in lieu of addressing the issue. For shame! Mary Anne would have to scold you! She would never have tried to pass that one off! It falls flatter still since you know so little, if anything, about me. It's best to keep one's ad-hominem attacks on tangible and concrete facts. I understand. It's hard, if not impossible, to defend Ritter's actions though - I certainly couldn't do so. Why that would be like trying to defend Torricelli's!

You KNOW that OBL is DEAD. No doubt in your mind, or at least written word.

His head will likely appear like John the Baptist's only after GWB finishes the first goals of the terror war, since its prior appearance would cause some to shout, "okay we got em! Call the boys home." If you notice the media loves to point out the uncertainty of OBL's fate to razz him, but actually thereby giving GWB exactly what he wants - time.

I ain't a coroner - I don't have to provide certificates of death for 3rd world terrorists.

You KNOW what Vietnam was like, and why, and how.

Vietnam is unique in modern history as the most well documented military campaign of modern times. Anyone with a set of weekly Life magazines can chronicle with amazing detail the events which led up to the Vietnam war, occurred during it and its wind down. LBJ left tapes of all his actions, phone calls, etc. - as did Nixon after him. An even better resource for understanding the whole eastern region in an even larger historical context is ASIA magazines from 1920-1940 and which chronicled the events, personalities and political movements which shaped the whole region up to WWII. That's the "why" and the "how" part - but not the "like."

For the "like" part one has to have been there. One can watch film footage, but that's a poor substitute for the real thing.

You KNOW what inspections are like.

The process of inspections is also well documented but irrelevant to my point - Ritter's acceptance of $400,000 to film an unflattering documentary of America.

And you don't even wonder how you know without ever learning. (Hint - "narcissism".)

Narcissus, moi? I don't think so. I know what I know and it certainly didn't come into my head through osmosis, and I am fairly assertive and outspoken - but narcissism? If I were narcissistic...well then I would be telling people that they better write their posts in the title lines - cause they're too lowly and inconsequential for me to waste my time clicking on. Now that is what I would do if I were narcissistic.

Arf (Heh, heh. And ya better say it in the subject line.)

Now what was that we were just talking about? Oh yes, you were asking for an explanation of the mirror principle - or were you just asking for a mirror?

PS
I apologize if I have been unfairly picking on you (heh. heh) - Splinx is too civil, good-natured and polite generally to razz, Lindy and Mary Anne are women, and Lindy has already had her flak jacket blistered often enough in my book. Alcaray, Tony, Buck and others are not as often posting, nor as combative and hostile as you are trying to be. In fact, they seem downright rational and conservative next to your Carville impersonations. You seem to want all the attacks - so you get them. (Hmmm. Sort of like Narcissus wanting folks to tell him he wasn't all that good looking...so he could believe they were all jealous.)
